This field on the Stocking tab of the Inventory Maintenance window is the number of stocking units in a purchasing unit. It determines the quantity to use when ordering items from the manufacturing vendor.
For example: You purchase rope in a roll of 100 feet, and stock it by the foot. The stocking unit is foot. The purchasing unit is roll. The standard package is 100 (the number of feet in a roll).
