Decimal Placement.

Multistore users only:  If the Keep Prices the Same in All Stores field in Options Configuration (or Function MIC) is Y, decimal placement is master data.  If the field is N, decimal placement is store-specific data.

The system uses the decimal placement to:

Since you may price and sell an item in different units of measure, the system must be able to provide the information you need in pricing, stocking, and alternate units of measure.

For example:

You price by the thousand board foot (MF) and stock by the board foot (BF). The system uses the decimal placement so that it can compare the units of measure on an equal basis. There are 1000 BF in a MF (1000 = 10 x 10 x 10). Therefore, the pricing decimal placement is 3.  The decimal placement comes from the # of Dec Pl field in the Units of Measure Maintenance window (MUM) (accessible from the GoTo menu in Inventory Maintenance).
