Setting Up Label Options

Epicor Eagle™ Labels for Windows users only.

Before you begin using Laser Labels, use the procedure below to set up the options that control the application.

1. Display the Options Configuration window.

2. Click ID. Using the list below, enter the ID number of the option, and click OK. Click in the Current Value column, select the desired setting, and click Change. Repeat this process for all options in the list. For more information about a particular option in the list, click on its blue underlined text.

• Windows Label Printer Name

  Enter the name of your Windows label printer. It must exactly match the name of a Windows printer on the PC that is printing the labels. Or, you can leave this field blank if you want the system to assume it should print at the PC's default printer.

• Windows Labels - Allow RQ/CSV labels on this system (ID# 5802)

  Set this option to Yes if you want to be able to print labels from a CSV file (a CSV file generated in RQ, or a CSV file on your PC). Otherwise, leave this option set to No.

• Use the ’Default MSU label format’ when printing MSU items? (ID# 5804)

  Set this option to Y if you want to print labels for your MSU items in the same print run as your non-MSU items. With this option set to Y, when you print bin labels using RBL (with Windows Label Manager), the application uses the ’Default bin label format’ (option 5810) for regular items and uses the ’Default MSU bin label format’ (option 5811) for items that have an MSU code attached to them. If you set this option to Y, you must also set the ’Default MSU bin label format’ (option 5811) to the appropriate label format.

• Default bin label format used for Windows label printing (ID# 5810)

  Enter the bin label layout you want to use when printing Windows Labels from the Inventory, Price Change, Purchasing, or Item Change Files.

  When printing Windows labels for a single item or when printing labels directly from RBL, the system uses the default bin label format you enter in this option.

• Default MSU label format to use for Windows label printing (ID# 5811)

  Enter the item label layout you want to use when printing items which have an MSU (multiple selling units) assigned to them. This allows you to print both regular items (items that do not have an MSU assigned to them) and MSU-type items all in one print run. This means the MSU items must print on the exact same labels as the non-MSU items. Note: this default label format is used by the Bin Label Report (RBL) and when printing a single label from Inventory Maintenance. Note: Option 5804 "Use the ’Default MSU label format’ when printing MSU items?" must be set to Yes to have the system use this MSU bin label.

• Default price label format used for Windows label printing (ID# 5812)

  Enter the price label layout you want to use when printing Windows Labels from the Inventory, Price Change, Purchasing, or Item Change Files.

  When printing Windows labels for a single item or when printing labels directly from RLA, the system uses the default price label format you enter in this option.

• Default promo label format used for Windows Label Printing (ID# 5814)

  Enter the label layout you want to use when printing Windows Labels from the Promotion file.

•  Default 'other' price label format used for Windows label printingUse this option to identify an alternate item label layout to use when printing inventory labels for a single item. This layout is used when printing a Windows Label from Inventory Maintenance's Misc menu option "Print a Label," and selecting Other for Label Type. You can also access the "Print a Label" function by simply clicking the Print Label hyperlink from the Codes tab. (ID# 5816)

• Alternate Vendor #1 for printing alternate item #'s in Label Manager (ID# 5820)

  If you want to print an item's alternate part number on Windows Labels, the item's alternate vendor must match the vendor in this option or in one of the other two alternate vendor options ("Alternate Vendor #2 for printing alternate item #'s in Label Manager" or  "Alternate Vendor #3 for printing alternate item #'s in Label Manager").

• Alternate Vendor #2 for printing alternate item #'s in Label Manager (ID# 5821)

  If you want to print an item's alternate part number on Windows Labels, the item's alternate vendor must match the vendor in this option or in one of the other two alternate vendor options ("Alternate Vendor #1 for printing alternate item #'s in Label Manager" or  "Alternate Vendor #3 for printing alternate item #'s in Label Manager").

• Alternate Vendor #3 for printing alternate item #'s in Label Manager (ID# 5822)

  If you want to print an item's alternate part number on Windows Labels, the item's alternate vendor must match the vendor in this option or in one of the other two alternate vendor options ("Alternate Vendor #1 for printing alternate item #'s in Label Manager" or  "Alternate Vendor #2 for printing alternate item #'s in Label Manager").

• Key used in Label Manager for cost coding (ID# 5823)

  Enter a "key" for the system to use when printing labels that contain "coded" costs. All of the following fields provide coded costs: DIB Coded Cost OM #1, DIB Coded Cost OM #2, DIB Coded Cost OM #3, Average Coded Cost, Replacement Coded Cost, Vendor Coded Cost (mfg cost), and Market Coded Cost.

  If you select any of these "coded" cost fields on labels, the system references this option to code the cost.

  The value you enter must be 10 characters long, and each character must be unique. The encoded cost always prints with two decimal places, even if the cost is .00 or if it doesn't have a decimal point. This option defaults to:

  For example, .05 will print as BH, 5.00 will print as HBB, etc.

4. Click Change on the toolbar.
