High Speed Communication for Ace Warehouse Orders

A new communication method to transmit your Ace Warehouse order has been developed to reduce communication errors and the transfer time to send the data.  A new ordering protocol has been introduced to improve the ordering experience.  No visible changes within the Ordering application have occurred outside of the transport mechanism to send your Ace Warehouse order to Ace.

In order to take advantage of this, you will need a broadband connection to the internet, and a VPN connection directly to Ace Hardware.

To set high-speed order transmission:

  1. From Network Access, at the Function prompt, type ACEUTL, and press Enter.

  2. To set High Speed Orders at the PO Transmission settings, at the Transmission Type prompt type H, and then press Change.

Upon making the selection and clicking the CHANGE key, the system will perform a behind the scenes check to confirm that the proper requirements have been met for the system. If the quick test is successful, your changes will be saved and you are now ready for High Speed transmission for Ace Warehouse orders. If an error is encountered, a warning message will display.

If you make a mistake while entering the new information, just clear the field(s) out and press <Change>, and the fields will be set back to their default values. You can change to High Speed ordering by simply performing the steps above. No formal notification to Ace is necessary.

An important note is that in the event you cannot connect to the Internet during the transmission of your Ace Warehouse order or your VPN tunnel to Ace is down you will have the option to return to the original async (modem) connection simply by returning to ACEUTL and changing the transmission setting back to A for PO Transmission type. However, this is only an available option if your modem and phone line are still available.

Ace strongly recommends that upon selecting the High Speed Order option that you attempt to transmit a valid order in advance of your normal order date. By doing this simple task, this will confirm the entire process was successful and you are now prepared for your weekly order.

Please note that the confirmation number received for the order is now 7 characters long rather than 6. This will be additional validation that your order was sent via the new method. To retrieve your confirmation number, continue to review the ASYMSG log as always.
