Inventory Import Tools users only (option 73 "Inventory Import" must be set to Yes by an Epicor representative)
The Inventory Import tools allow you to import new items and item updates from a fixed or delimited flat file obtained from a vendor. This saves you time because you won’t have to enter new items/item updates manually. Inventory Import imports into the Flexible Inventory Load window (FIL), where you can make any changes or deletions that might be necessary before activating the new or updated items.
You invoke Inventory Import from the Data Import and Update Tools option on the Eagle Browser. From there, you specify the layout or "map" of the file to be imported. You can create the map so it matches the layout of a "flex report" in Flexible Inventory Load (FIL), or you can simply create your own layout. You then save the map file (similar to the way views are saved) so it can be used again for future file maintenance imports that have the same layout. Once you've created a map file and specified the file you want to import, you import file maintenance into the FIL window, where the new items/item updates reside until you make any necessary changes to them and then finalize them.
