To determine what merchandise to transfer between stores, you'll need to know the following:
What is needed?
Who has it?
There are several ways to find this information. Your approach depends on how purchasing, receiving, and over/under-stocks are handled at your stores.
Use any of the following methods to determine what is needed at a particular store. This would include items that are out of stock or are low in stock.
Run the Item Status Report (RIS) with Report Type C (Zero Quantity). This report lists what is already out of stock (but not items with a low stock quantity that you are about to run out of). For more information about running the RIS Zero Quantity report, refer to online help or the Inventory Item Information Manual.
Run the Suggested Order Report (RSO). This report lists items whose quantity-on-hand (QOH) is below the order point. Run the report with Other Options I to check if items are overstocked in other stores. Do not run the report with Option F, you do not want to create a purchase order. The purpose of this RSO is to give you a list of items that are needed and to show you which stores are overstocked on those items. For more information about running the RSO overstock report, refer to online help or the Purchasing and Receiving Manual.

Use any of the following methods to determine if another store has any of the items that are needed.
Run the Item Status Report (RIS) with Report Type B (Overstock). This report lists items that are overstocked, where the quantity-on-hand exceeds the order point or maximum stock level. For more information about running the RIS overstock report, refer to online help or the Purchasing and Receiving Manual.
Check the inventory level when you create the transfer request, you can display the quantity-on-hand in each store.
