The following security bits are used with the Gift Card application. These bits are only relevant if the MSY option "Gift/Cash Card on System" (ID# 5473) has been set to Yes by the Epicor Licensing Department. For more information about setting up security, click here.
Security Bit 621 - "Allow Alternate Tenders to be used in POS"
Set this bit to Yes for all users who will process gift cards at POS. This bit is necessary to ring up customers who are buying merchandise with a Gift Card.
Security Bit 669 - "Gift/Cash card activation in WinPOS allowed"
The behavior of this security bit depends upon whether the option "Gift/Cash card type" (ID# 5360) in Options Configuration is set to A (Wildcat), or B or C (Paymentech or FDMS).
If the option "Gift/Cash card type" is set to A (Wildcat), set this security bit to Yes if you want the user to be allowed to manually activate a gift card from the Gift Card Maintenance window in POS. Set this bit to No if you don't want to allow the user to manually activate a gift card.
If the option "Gift/Cash card type" is set to B (Paymentech) or C (FDMS), this security bit controls what capabilities are available in the Gift Card Maintenance window. Set this bit to Yes if you want to allow the user to use all capabilities in the Gift Card Maintenance menu, including manually activating a gift card. Set this bit to No if you only want to allow the user to access the 'Check Balance' capability in the Gift Card Maintenance menu.
Security Bit 672 - "Allow gift card cash-out greater than threshold"
If this bit is set to Yes, the clerk can do a cash-out greater than the maximum amount you set up in the option "Gift/Cash Card cash-out maximum without M/O."
Security Bit 758 - "(MO)Gift/Cash Card - ability to cancel out of gift card activation"
If the option "Force Gift/Cash Card activation" (ID# 5980) is set to Yes in Options Configuration, set this bit to No if you want to require that the user obtain a manager override to cancel out of the activation process for gift card(s). Set this bit to Yes to allow a user to cancel out of the activation process for gift card(s) without getting a manager's approval.
