LaserCat 3 Integration: Options Configuration Setup
Eagle Licensing Setup
To Enable the LaserCat system license, system option 2650 “LaserCat
License” must be enabled by an Epicor representative.
Each LaserCat product requires separate terminal licenses. To enable
a sufficient number of terminal licenses, the LaserCat terminal license
options must have enough available licenses for each of the intended products.
PartExpert and BuyerAssist may be used alone; all other products also
require PartExpert to be concurrently licensed on the terminal.
Automatic Licensing
Eagle POS automatically applies available LaserCat licenses to a terminal
not yet licensed for LaserCat when POS is opened. This is to avoid having
to manually assign LaserCat licenses for each terminal when LaserCat is
first enabled and licensed.
Manual Licensing
To manually license (Add, Change, Delete) an Eagle terminal to use LaserCat:
Open Options Configuration either
by selecting it from the Options Configuration Folder under System
Management or by entering “opt” in the Eagle browser launch bar and
pressing <Enter>.
Select the Miscellaneous menu
either by clicking the Misc icon or by pressing the “-” key on the
numeric keypad.
Select menu item L - Review
Licenses either by clicking the L button or by pressing the “K” key.
From the License Review dialog
select “LaserCat”.
Scroll to view the desired terminal,
use “Add” or “Change” to license the desired LaserCat products for
the terminal.
Select “OK” to complete licensing
of the terminal.
Eagle LaserCat Options Setup
Set up Eagle LaserCat options, as follows:
Display
the Options Configuration window.
At Subsystem, select “LASERCAT,”
and at Options, select All Options, then click Display.
Click in the Current Value column
of the first option in the grid that you want to change.
Click the arrow that displays,
select your response in the window that displays, and press ENTER.
Most of the LaserCat options are easily understood
by the provided description. Below are the options which require more
explanation. Click the blue underlined text to view additional information
about these options.
- Option
2651 "Allow Multi-Session LaserCat with Point-of-Sale?"This option should be set to Yes even if multi-session
POS is not used. This uses the LaserCat software integrated into Eagle
POS and generally provides the best overall user experience.
- Options
with “feature” at the end of the description such as those from 2679
– 2701 must be set to “Yes”Setting these options to Yes enables each product/feature,
even though the product/feature may be licensed. Each product/feature
has three settings that must be turned on before the product is enabled
in LaserCat. These include the Terminal License, the LaserCat “feature”
Option, and the product checked in LaserCat Supplier Maintenance.
- Options
with “toolbar” at the end of the description such as those from 2702
– 2727 should be set to Yes at first, but probably changed to No later. These options control the display of various toolbars.
Initially, most users prefer to display all toolbars, but as users
become more skilled and learn the many shortcuts and forms of navigation
LaserCat supports, most people find that they no longer need the toolbars,
and removing them can free up considerable screen space for catalog
data.
- Option
2762 “LaserCat PartExpert & Interchange default supplierEnter the supplier configured though LaserCat Supplier
Maintenance that is the default when LaserCat opens. If you have multiple
suppliers configured through LaserCat Supplier Maintenance on your
LaserCat server, they are all available in the LaserCat client through
the select/display Supplier function.
”
- Option
8602 “LaserCat server name”This is the LaserCat server you want to use on
the terminal, store or system. It can contain the server’s PC computer
name, the IP address, or if the server is on the same PC as Eagle
POS, you can simply name it “local.”
- Option
8608 “LaserCat master PEDS server”Enter the master LaserCat server where all suppliers
and PartExpert edits are maintained. It can contain the server’s PC
computer name or the IP address.
