If you have the Classic, Decorating/Specialty, or Lumber/Contractor Point-of-Sale package, you can create an open quote.
An open quote is a custom price list. You give a customer or job account special prices on certain items by creating an open quote for that account. Then, until the expiration date of the open quote, the system automatically uses the open quote prices for those items whenever you create a transaction for that account.
Open quotes are actually a kind of estimate. If you display the Header Screen of an estimate, and the Open Quote box is Y, you know the estimate is an open quote.
An open quote has the following characteristics:
You can create open quotes only for authorized customer or job accounts. The *Open Quote field must be set to "Y" in Function MCR.
The system allows only one open quote per account at a time.
Open quotes are not for specific quantities of an item. The customer can buy any quantity of an item on an open quote.
When you sell a customer an item that appears on the open quote, the system will not allow you to use the Discount/Promo key to change the price..
When you sell a customer an item that appears on the open quote, the open quote price automatically displays at POS. You can override the price by typing over it.
When you sell a customer an item that appears on his open quote, the system does not use Best Pricing.
When creating an open quote for a job account, there may already be an open quote for the associated customer account. If, on the job’s open quote, you enter any of the same items that are already on the customer’s open quote, the items are automatically posted at the customer open quote price. This may be the price you want¾but if it’s not, you can override it.
