Setting Up Foreign Currency Exchange
If you accept a foreign currency at POS, set up the following options.
In these options, you will define the exchange rate, the name of the foreign
currency, and the name of the local currency. Optionally, you can set
up the system to automatically display the foreign currency window at
the end of every transaction, and/or display the Total Due and Change
Due in both the local and foreign currencies.
Display the Options Configuration
Window.
Click ID. In the dialog that
displays, in the Option ID field, type the option number (see the
list below) and click OK. Click in the Current Value column, and select
the desired setting. Repeat this process for each option in the list
below.
ID# 1150 - Exchange
RateUse this field to enter
an exchange rate to be used at POS. Enter a rate of up to 9.9999. To calculate
the exchange rate after totaling a transaction, you'll click Menu, then
click Exchange Foreign Currency after totaling a transaction. A window
then displays in which you can either accept the default (the exact amount
of the purchase), or enter the amount of the foreign currency tendered.
Then the totals screen returns to view, where you can complete the transaction.
ID# 8823 - Custom
field label for foreign currency Enter the field label you want to see in
the Currency Exchange window to replace the word "Foreign" in
the Foreign Currency label. You can enter a maximum of 5 characters.
For example, if the foreign currency is Canadian you could enter in CAD
to have it say "CAD Currency" or CAN$ to have it say "CAN$
Currency".
If you leave this option blank, the label will simply read "Foreign
Currency".
What you enter in this option is also used in the Total Due and Change
Due windows if option 8826 "Display Total Due and Change Due in both
currencies?" is set to Yes.
The "Kept By" method for this option defaults to System, but
you can change it to Store if desired.
ID# 8824 - Custom
field label for local currencyIf you want to replace the word "US"
in the US Currency label in the Currency Exchange window , enter the label
you wish to use, to a maximum of 5 characters. For example, if the local
currency is Canadian you could enter in CAD to have it say "CAD Currency".
Or if the local currency is US you could enter US$ in this option
to have it say "US$ Currency." If you leave this option blank,
the label will simply be "US Currency."
What you enter in this option is also used in the Total Due and Change
Due windows if option 8826 "Display Total Due and Change Due in both
currencies?" is set to Yes.
The "Kept By" method for this option defaults to System, but
you can change it to Store if desired.
ID# 8825 - Automatically
display "Currency Exchange" window?Set this option to Yes to have the Currency Exchange
window automatically display after the Total button is pressed on a transaction
in POS. Otherwise set this option to No.
The Currency Exchange window can also be brought up manually by selecting
"Exchange foreign currency" on the Totals Menu.
This option is Kept By Store, but can be changed to any other Kept By method
(System, Terminal, or User)
ID# 8826 - Display
Total Due and Change Due in both currencies?Set this option to Yes to have the Total Due and
Change Due windows in POS display the amount in both the local and foreign
currencies. Set this option to No to see the Total Due and Change Due
in the local currency only.
The default Kept By method for this option is system, but can be changed
to Store.
ID# 8827 - Print
transaction totals on receipts in both currencies?
