Maintaining Account Code Definitions

You can maintain the definitions of the account codes entered in the Account Codes field in the Customer Maintenance window. The Account Codes field has four positions and you can set up a coding scheme to meet your business needs. You can then maintain the definition of each account code from the Customer Maintenance window and the Open Item Maintenance window.

From the Customer Maintenance window, the Miscellaneous tab, you can view the account codes that you have set up.

Viewing Existing Account Code Definitions

  1. From the Tools menu, click Account Codes to display the Code Maintenance window.
  2. In the Select Code list, click Customer Account Codes.
  3. In the Code Position list, click the account code position you want to review. The codes and definitions display in the Code Values area.
  4. Click Close to close the window.

Adding New Account Code Definitions

  1. From the Tools menu, click Account Codes to display the Code Maintenance window.
  2. In the Select Code list, click Customer Account Codes.
  3. In the Code Position list, click an account code position. The existing codes and definitions display in the Code Values area.
  4. In the blank fields below the Code Values area, type a code and then type your definition for that code.
  5. Click Add. The new account code is added to the list in the Code Values area.
  6. Click Save.
  7. Click Close.

Changing Existing Account Code Definitions

  1. From the Tools menu, click Account Codes to display the Code Maintenance window.
  2. In the Select Code list, click Customer Account Codes.
  3. In the Code Position list, click an account code position. The existing codes and definitions display in the Code Values area.
  4. Click the existing code that you want to change. The code displays in the fields below the Code Values area.
  5. Make your changes to the description.
  6. Click Change.
  7. Click Save.
  8. Click Close.

Deleting Existing Account Code Definitions

  1. From the Tools menu, click Account Codes to display the Code Maintenance window.
  2. In the Select Code list, click Customer Account Codes.
  3. In the Code Position list, click an account code position. The existing codes and definitions display in the Code Values area.
  4. Click the existing code that you want to delete. The code displays in the fields below the Code Values area.
  5. Click Delete.
  6. Click Save.
  7. Click Close.
