The Special Charges feature allows you to:
Set up special charges to be added to designated customer's account at month-end. This allows you to add a monthly surcharge for providing special services (e.g. long distance deliveries, daily deliveries, recurring rental fees, etc.) or to issue a monthly credit for using electronic ordering, ordering in volume, etc. You can enter up to three different monthly charges to be added to the customer's account at month-end. These charges may be credits or debits, and will print as a line item on the customers' statements, using the customized descriptions you set up for each type of special charge.
Override your standard A/R finance charge rates on designated customer accounts. This allows you to designate a specific finance charge rate for customers. This provides greater and more automated flexibility with problem accounts. The percentage you specify for an account overrides the finance charge parameters set up in Options Configuration.
You must run the Aging Report (RAG) with Update Option S (and Update Option F to finalize) to calculate and add the special charges to the customers’ accounts. The special charges are created as "F" type documents, which you can access in Open Item Maintenance.
The Daily Journal Report (RDJ) with option Z passes off special charges and finance charges to the Finance Charge G/L account.
