On the POS Posting Screen, if you enter a number in the Item (SKU) box that is not in your inventory, the system can look for the item in the catalog. If it finds the item, you can then add it to your inventory.
Before you begin using this feature, you must set up your system using method A or B below.
Method A: Set option 460 "Display After Barcode Scan?" to D, and set option 5430 "Smart POS item lookup by Sku, UPC, Mfg Part #" to N. With this method, you receive the message “item not in inventory," and you must simply press Enter to add the item.
Method B: Set option 460 "Display After Barcode Scan?" to Y or L or N, and set option 5430 "Smart POS item lookup by Sku, UPC, Mfg Part #" to Y or M. With this method, you do not receive the "item not in inventory" message, but the item is added to inventory.
On the POS Posting Screen, in the Item (SKU) box, enter the item number. The system searches for the item in your inventory file. If it does not find the item, the Catalog dialog box displays.
Press Y to add the item to inventory.
