(Option ID# 5456) This Advanced Order Entry (AOE) option in Options Configuration determines when the sourcing menu displays. The sourcing menu includes the various choices for sourcing an item, such as backorder, transfer, alternate (substitute), etc.
I = Only display the Source Menu when selling an item you always transfer from another location (the "prompt for Transfer" flag for the item is set to Y on the Codes tab of Inventory Maintenance).
B = Display the Source Menu if selling an item you always transfer from another location (the "prompt for Transfer" flag for the item is set to Y on the Codes tab of Inventory Maintenance), or if the item has insufficient quantity to accommodate the order.
N = Never display the Source Menu.
(Customer Order Management (COM) users only) This option also determines the behavior of auto-backordering for the quote-to-order process. If this option is set to B or I, quotes-to-order that are created via menu option K or via the bid-to-order process will auto-backorder any insufficient quantities. If this option is set to N (never display source menu automatically), the system assumes you will not be sourcing insufficient quantities, so the quantities ordered will be placed in the quantity field with no automatic backordering.
You can display the Source Menu at any time by simply pressing the Source button on the toolbar, or by using Menu option J from the Order Entry posting screen.
