Price Update Tools Overview

Price Update Tools users only (option 72 "Price Import" must be set to Yes by an Epicor representative)

The Price Update Tools allow you to import inventory pricing updates in the form of fixed or delimited flat files into the Item Price Change window (IPC). This saves you time because you won’t have to enter price updates manually. Since Price Update Tools import into the Item Price Change window, you can make any changes or deletions that might be necessary, as well as print bin labels, before activating the new prices.

You invoke the Price Update Tools from the Data Import Menu on the Eagle Browser. From there, you specify the layout or "map" of the file to be imported, and save that map file (similar to the way views are saved) so it can be used again for future price change imports that have the same layout. Once you've created a map file and specified the file you want to import, the price changes can be imported into the Item Price Change grid, where they will reside until their effective date, just like any other prices in the Price Change file.

Before you begin using Price Update tools, decide how you want to set up the Inventory option "WinIPC - When updating Mfg cost or Alt Vendor cost, also update Replacement cost?" (ID# 8106). This option governs whether or not the system automatically updates Replacement Cost when you are updating Mfg Cost or Alternate Vendor Cost. If you don't want to automatically update Replacement Cost when these other costs are updated, be sure to set this option to No.
