This procedure describes how to apply a transaction-level trade discount. Note: this procedure is affected by 1) to whom you have assigned security bit 533 , and 2) how you set up option 5486 in Options Configuration.
A transaction-level trade discount is not subject to option 620 “Apply Terms Discount to Discounted Items? (Y/N).” This means that a customer can receive a double discount if you apply a transaction-level trade discount, and the customer also has a terms discount they receive for paying their charges in a timely manner.
In POS, after posting all the items on the transaction, press total.
Press discount. If there are no discountable items on this transaction, the message displays, "No items may be discounted for this transaction." You cannot give a discount.
If you are discounting the subtotal by a certain percent, in the Percent box, type the percent off. Then go to step 5.
For example, to give a 20 percent discount off the discountable subtotal, type 20.You cannot give a trade discount for 100 percent.
If you want to subtract a specific amount from the discountable subtotal, in the Amount box, type the amount to be subtracted.
If you enter an amount greater than the discountable subtotal, the message displays, "Please enter an amount less than the total discountable subtotal." Type a lesser amount, or press clear.
Press enter.
