The General Ledger application lets you decide how long you want your accounting periods by choosing one of the following time periods:
yearly
quarterly
monthly (the last day of each month)
every four weeks (13-period year)
Once you decide the length of your accounting periods, do the following:
Cick the arrow to the right of the Default Period Code box, and select a length of time for your accounting periods.
In the first space of the Start Date column, type the month, day, and year (mm/dd/yy) of the first day of your fiscal year.
Press ENTER.
The rest of the dates in your fiscal year fill in automatically, based on what Default Period Code you chose in step 1. If you chose blank (no default code), then you must manually enter your entire fiscal year.
At Current-14, enter the starting date and the ending date (in mm/dd/yy format) of the accounting period for which you are currently posting transactions or printing financial statements.
