For the General Ledger application, you need to define financial statement headings. You assign each heading a two-digit code. This code is then entered in the Financial Statement Layouts window for the appropriate financial statement(s) so that the heading prints on it.
Follow the steps below to create a financial statement heading.
Click Misc, then click Financial Statement Text File Maintenance.
In the Text No box, enter a two-digit code to identify the heading.
In the Description box, enter a description for the heading (such as Profit and Loss Statement, Balance Sheet, etc.)
Click Add. The Add Text dialog box displays.
In the Text box, type the first line of the heading you want to print on the financial statement, and press ENTER.
Press the SPACEBAR to clear your last entry. Type the next line of the heading you want to print on the financial statement, and press ENTER.
Repeat step 7 as necessary.
Press ESCAPE to close the Add Text window.
(Optional) Print a list of financial statement headings by running the Print Financial Statement Edits (RGTX). You can use this list when you are creating financial statement layouts to help you enter the appropriate text code on the layout.
The two-digit code you assign to your headings can be alphabetic or numeric. You may want to use a code like BS for balance sheet, PL for profit and loss statement so that the code is easy to remember.
If you want the heading to be centered when it prints on your financial statements, use the spacebar to position your cursor in the center of the Add Text dialog box before you begin typing.
