(iNet 1.0 users only)
Thumbnail images ("thumbnails") are smaller versions of iNet item images, and are created by modifying a copy of the item image. Thumbnails are usually displayed as part of a list of items or as a link to the item image. For example, a catalog query of "Battery" may return a list of 20 batteries. If thumbnails are present, the user can quickly and easily look at the list and determine which batteries are 9-volt and which are D-cell. Moreover, thumbnails make item list navigation easier for users. The following are the specific requirements for thumbnails:
Size (Pixels) - Thumbnails should be sized at 48 (width) by 60 (height) because iNet applications are optimized to display them at this resolution. However, simply resizing an existing item image to this resolution will likely cause the thumbnail image to be stretched either vertically, horizontally, or both. In order to create high-quality thumbnails, you must ensure that the image's aspect ratio is maintained. Some graphics application packages have options that will enable you to create a "tile" of 48 x 60 and lay a thumbnail on that tile without distorting the aspect ratio of the image.
Resolution - Image resolution should be set to 72 dpi at 100% viewing size. Note that stretching images out beyond 100% size will distort them, while condensing them below 100% won't improve the image.
File Types - iNet supports both GIF and JPEG (JPG) images. Epicor recommends using JPG images exclusively because they are normally smaller than GIF images but are generally of equal or better quality when compared by size. Smaller images translate to a better experience for your users.
Naming Convention- Thumbnails must adhere to the following naming convention: "t" followed by the item number with the appropriate file extension. For example, a thumbnail for SKU "12345" should be named "t12345.jpg" if you are using JPEG images or "t12345.gif" if you are using GIF images. Thumbnail files that do not adhere to these naming conventions will not be displayed in iNet applications.
Background - iNet pages are white by default. Therefore, thumbnail backgrounds or tiles should be white as well.
