Beginning Quantity.
This field in Physical Inventory Posting (PIP) is display only. It indicates the quantity-on-hand of an SKU at the time it was loaded into the count file (PIP).
This field is used to calculate a variance between Beginning Quantity and the Quantity Counted (during a physical count). The system will allow only one Beginning Quantity per SKU in the count file at a time.
If an SKU's Quantity On Hand field in Inventory Maintenance has changed after being loaded into the count file and before being posted to in PIP, this field will display in reverse video. This means either a POS transaction or Inventory Maintenance field has changed. The system calculates a new Beginning Quantity (for display purposes only).
The new Beginning Quantity will display next to the "old" Beginning Quantity.
If the Date of Last Sale field on this screen is also displayed in reverse video, this means that POS activity has occurred which changed the beginning quantity.
Important: Even though the screen displays a field in reverse video, the Physical Inventory Report (RPI) will use the original "snapshot" of the beginning quantity (at the time the count record was created) to calculate variances. The reverse video fields are provided only as an indicator that you need to "reset" the beginning qantity with RPI, Load Option B before counting.
