Comparing Classic Eagle Inventory to Inventory for Windows

You may already be familiar with the classic Epicor Eagle™ Inventory application. You know how to use the various functions and reports, including Function IMU (Item Master Update), Function MDE (Modify Department File), and Report RIS (Item Stock Status Report). This topic compares the classic Inventory application to the Epicor Eagle™ Inventory for Windows application so that you can understand the similarities and differences between the two.

Displaying Functions and Reports

Where is the Main Menu? With the classic Inventory application, if you want to display an item record, you type IMU at the Main Menu and press the Enter key.

With the Inventory for Windows application, the Main Menu has been replaced by the Eagle Browser. From the Browser window you can display an item record using either of the following methods:

The Browser is very similar to the Main Menu. If you know the acronym for the window you want to display (such as IMU for Inventory Maintenance), type the acronym in the Launch box and press Enter.

If you don't know the acronym, click Applications from the list in the left pane, then click an applications category from the list in the right pane, and then click the name of the window you want to display.

You can also click the arrow to the right of the Launch box to display a list of recently accessed windows. From this list, you can click one of the choices to display the window.

Functions and Reports

Use the following table to map the classic Inventory function to Inventory for Windows. In the first column you'll find the classic Inventory function or report name and acronym. In the second column is the Inventory for Windows name and acronym. This is the acronym you type in the Launch box to display the window.

Some windows in Inventory for Windows are accessed after you display a main Inventory window, such as the Inventory Maintenance window. For example, to display the Department Maintenance window, first display the Inventory Maintenance window, then click the Go To button on the menu bar (or from the Action menu), and then select Department Maintenance.

If a classic Inventory function or report is not found in the table, then it is not yet available in Inventory for Windows. You can still access the function or report from the Main Menu, using Network Access.
