Setting Up a Generic SKU

For items not stocked in your store, the PartSmartâ„¢ interface will post an item to a POS transaction using a generic SKU. This generic SKU varies by catalog and must be the same as the "OEM Code" of the manufacturer for that particular catalog. For example, the OEM Code for Briggs and Stratton in the PartSmart Catalog is BRG, so you must set up a generic SKU "BRG". Contact PartSmart to get the list of vendor OEM codes. Note that you must add an OEM Code SKU for each PartSmart catalog you own.

  1. Display the Inventory Maintenance window.

  2. Click the Load tab.

  3. In the SKU field, enter the appropriate OEM Code.

  4. Enter a department in the Dept field, and enter a description in the Description field.

  5.  Click the Codes tab and:

  6. Click Add to add the item.

  7. If you own other PartSmart catalogs, repeat steps 3-6 as necessary to add a generic SKU for each catalog.
