Related Items: Options and Security

(Inventory Pro users only)

This topic explains the options and security that must be set up in order to use the Related Items feature.

Set Up Options

1. Display the Options Configuration window.

2. Click ID. In the dialog that displays, in the Option ID field, type 8346 and click OK. The option "Related Items on System?" displays. Click in the Current Value column, type a Y, and click Change.

3. Click ID again. In the Option ID field, type 8347 and click OK. The option " Display Related Items at Point-Of-Sale?" displays. Click in the Current Value column, enter Yes or No, and click Change.

   This option determines whether or not items' related items list displays on the POS screen.

   Note that any related items you set up to ALWAYS post (related item types 4,5 and 6) will post to the transaction regardless of how this option is set.

   By default, this option is set by terminal, but you can change the Kept By method to System, Store, or User if desired.

4. Click ID again. In the Option ID field, type 8348 and click OK. The option " Display Related Items without Quantity Available?" displays. Click in the Current Value column, enter Yes or No, and click Change.

   If you set this option to Yes, items with insufficient quantity will show on the related items list.

   Note:

   • Related items set up to sell automatically (related item types 4, 5, and 6) are not affected by this option; rather, they follow the same quantity sufficient checks that any SKU follows in POS.

   • A related sku type 1, 2, or 3 that is set up with the Keep Stock Info field set to N in Inventory will show in the Related Items Viewer regardless of how this option is set. The SKU will display "NON-Stock" in the Quantity field of the viewer.

   This option is Kept By system (default) or store.

Set up Security

Assign security bit 796 "View/Edit Related Items" to employees whom you want to be able to create and edit related item lists in the Related Items Viewer in Inventory Maintenance.
