IMPORTANT! Always run a backup before using this application! A backup is your only recourse to restore items you delete while using the SHRINK application.
Use "SHRINK" to delete a range of items from your inventory file. As a general rule, don't delete items that have sales history until after running year-end reports. If you delete an item prior to year-end, the sales history information reported by other inventory reports (such as RIV, RIS, RSH, RPH, RIH, and RPA) will be inaccurate.
"SHRINK" does not delete items unless you select option F. You should first print and review an audit report to verify that you want to delete all the items on the report. If you find items on the audit report that you don't want to delete, you can prevent those items from being deleted by changing inventory field values that cause item(s) to be ineligible for deletion, such as inputting a quantity-on-hand, resetting the discontinued flag to N, entering an order point, entering a quantity-on-order, etc. Once you have changed the necessary items, you can select option F.
Run a SHRINK audit report so you can review items before deleting them. If there are some items on the audit report you don't want to delete, you can protect them from deletion. Or, you can decide to not proceed with SHRINK at all if you don't like the results on the audit report.
From the Eagle Browser, click Reports Menu, Inventory Reports, Reduce Item File Records (SHRINK). The Shrink the Inventory File Report window displays.
From the
page, review the default entries in the fields and make changes if
needed. For a definition of each field, click here.
Click

You should select the option that best fits your situation.
For example, select option D if your goal is to delete discontinued
items from your inventory.
Click here for an explanation of each option.
Click.
(in the left pane of the window). A page of fields displays.
Fill in the desired fields to specify the range of items you
plan to delete.
(Optional)
Click
(in the left pane of the window). Fill in the desired User Code
(note: Expanded User Codes are not eligible). Depending on how
you fill in the corresponding "Exclude?" field, items with
the User Code you entered will either be included or excluded. For
example, if you want to delete SKUs with a User Code of "Z"
in the 3rd position, type a Z in the 3rd box, and leave the "N"
in the third "Exclude?" box.
(Optional)
Click
(in the left pane of the window). A page of fields displays.
Fill in the fields if you want to fax the report. For
a definition of each field, click here.
Click Run. When the report has finished printing, carefully review it before proceeding.
If in reviewing the audit list you discover items you don't want to delete, render them ineligible for deletion by doing one of the following in Inventory Maintenance:
If you're using option D to delete only discontinued items, change the Discontinued flag to N on the items you don't want to delete.
If you're using option M to delete only items with M in the Special Record field, remove the M on the items you don't want to delete.
If you're using option X to delete all items with a blank Seasonal Sales Code, enter a Seasonal Sales Code on the items you don't want to delete.
If you're not using option D, M, or X, enter a value in one of the following fields on the items you don't want to delete:
Seasonal Sales Code
Quantity on Hand
Quantity on Order
Future Order
To Date Sales
Order Point
Re-run SHRINK, but this time include option F in addition to any other option you selected on the audit report. For example, if you selected option X on the audit report, you'd now select options X and F.
