Display Quantity Not Available Message.
This POS option in Options Configuration determines if a warning message displays when a clerk sells more of an item at POS than is available in your inventory. This warning displays on sales, orders, and special orders.
Y = Display warning message. The clerk then clears the message by pressing ENTER or CLEAR.
N = Do not display warning message. If you are a Replenishment Inventory user (you do not keep quantity on hand for any items), enter N in this field.
When the system prompts that a quantity is insufficient, do one of the following:
Type a quantity that is equal to or less than the quantity available and press <Enter>.
Press <Enter> to accept the quantity entered. You must have security bit 622 to do this; otherwise, you'll need a manager's override to post the item.
Press <Clear> and re-enter the SKU.
The system uses field information from the Inventory Maintenance window and the following formula to determine quantity available:
Quantity on Hand
- Committed Quantity
--------------------
Quantity Available
A quantity is considered committed if it is on an order or special order.
