If you use Eagle General Ledger, please contact your Epicor Professional Services representative before beginning the conversion to the new product classifications.
Do it Best (DIB) introduced a new product classification system which provides a much more defined and accurate way to manage products as compared with their previous system. Products are categorized into a structure that gives logical definition to product groups, designed to be consistent with how product is merchandised within a retail store, and how product mixes are managed. The classifications include departments, categories (classes in Eagle), and sub-categories (finelines in Eagle). In addition, there is also a fourth sub-level, called Product Group, which is not used in Eagle inventory.
When you run the conversion program, it assigns the Eagle department, class, and fineline to each item, replacing its old department, class and fineline. Below is an example of how the conversion changes an item's department, class, and fineline to the new method:
Do it Best New Classifications |
Eagle Classifications after Conversion |
Department = Auto |
Department = AU |
Category = 1466 |
Class = AAA |
Subcategory = 1K3P | Fineline = AU1K3P |
Thus, the DIB department of AUTO translates to Eagle department of AU, DIB category of 1466 translates to Eagle class AAA, and DIB subcategory of 1K3P translates to Eagle fineline of AU1K3P.
