Use the Daily Tax Code Totals Viewer to display the total for each tax code by day. The Viewer is updated each day by the Daily Journal Report (RDJ) Option F. You must have security bit 329 to access this Viewer.
While RDJ (F) updates the Tax Code Totals Viewer based upon the transaction date, it updates the Tax Code Window (MTX) for all transactions that RDJ processes, regardless of transaction date. Therefore, the current period totals in MTX may not match to a total for that same time period in the Daily Tax Code Viewer.
Before you begin using the Daily Tax Code Totals Viewer for the first time, you must set the option " Keep Daily Tax Information?" (ID# 5162) in Options Configuration to Yes. Daily Tax Code information will not begin accumulating via RDJ option F until this option is set to Yes. Also set the option " Update Daily Tax Totals Viewer with non-taxable sales for component codes" (ID# 8129) to either Yes or No. For more information about setting up these options, click here.
The Viewer automatically shows one month's worth of tax code information, starting on today's date last month, and ending on today's date. If desired, you can enter different values in the Start Date and End Date fields. You can also enter a specific tax code in the Tax Code field. When finished entering the desired values, click Refresh.
The tax code totals display in "Tax Code" order, but you can sort the grid in the desired order by simply double-clicking on the appropriate column heading. For example, if you want to display the tax code totals by date, double-click on the Date column heading.
In order to have accurate totals, the default view in the Daily Tax Totals Viewer does not show "Component Type" tax codes; if it did, the Totals would be inaccurate because the Master tax code already includes the tax and sales for its components. If you want to view the components, Epicor recommends you create and save a view that has the totals removed.
If you use composite or line-item tax codes (Canada and some U.S. states), note the "Type Code" column in the viewer. This column indicates whether the tax code is Composite, Master (composite), Line Item, Normal (indicated by "blank" in this column), or Mixed. A component tax code becomes "Mixed" any time it is also used as a normal, line, or master tax code within the same day.
