Create an Inventory Kit

An inventory kit is comprised of various items grouped together as a package. For example, a deck kit might contain all the items required to build a certain size deck (lumber, nails, footings, and so on). Another example is a kit for selling propane that includes both the propane and an environmental fee. Assign one SKU number to the kit (referred to as the kit header SKU) and then link the individual SKUs that make up the kit to the kit header. At POS, enter just the kit header SKU to sell the kit. The system automatically updates the inventory information for the individual SKUs in the kit.

For more information about loading inventory or kit records, refer to the online help topics. From the Contents tab, open the Inventory book and then the Loading Other Item Types book.

  3. Review IMU to verify that all the items you want to add to kit are in your inventory file.

Link the SKUs to the kit header

  1. In the Inventory Maintenance window (IMU), display the kit header SKU.

  2. Click Go To and click K-Modify Kits (MKR) to display the Kit Record Maintenance window.

  3. The Kit SKU field is filled in. At Desc, type a description for this kit.

  4. Click Add to display the Add Kit Item dialog. Type the SKU and quantity for one of the items in the kit. Click OK. The item is added to the kit and displays in the grid.

  5. Type the SKU of the next item in the kit. Click OK. Repeat until all the items in the kit are added. Then click Cancel to close the dialog.

  6. Review the Retail, Actual GP%, and Total Retail Value fields. Make any needed changes to the Retail or Actual GP% fields and click Change. You can enter your own retail price for the kit or you can enter a GP% and have the system calculate the retail price.

The system automatically updates the Mfg Cost field of the kit header SKU in Inventory Maintenance with the total of the component SKUs' retails.
