Updating Data

The Data Update Utility is used to download data from the CD / DVD to the hard drive. Follow these instructions to copy the data from the CD / DVD to your hard drive.

1. Double-click the Data Update Utility icon on the desktop.  

   

2. Select the location of the CD / DVD, as needed.

   

   You can update your catalog data from a CD or DVD drive not on your local machine.  If you need to use a remote CD or DVD drive, type the network address in the text box.  

   The default is to download the data from the local CD or DVD (represented by <LOCAL>).

   The Data Update Utility cannot download data from data stored on a hard drive.  It must be either a CD or DVD drive, depending on the media used.

3. Select whether to extract graphics files, as needed.  

   

   Use this check box to Indicate whether you want to extract graphics files during the data update process.  If you are not using graphics or you want to download the graphics at another time, clear this box.

   The default is to download graphics files.

   Please note that the graphics download can be quite lengthy.  If you choose to download the graphics, be prepared for the update to take up to 30 minutes.  

4. Click the Start button.

You can also run the Data Update Utility from the command line or in batch mode from a script.
