Service Order Field Help
(Service Order and Repair users only)
This topic provides definitions for the fields in the New/Maintain Service Order dialog in POS. To view a definition for a particular field, click the appropriate field in the alphabetical list below.
AddressThe address for this customer. If you are using a customer account, the address automatically displays. If using a default cash account, you can fill in the address information if desired.
CityThe city for this customer. If you are using a customer account, the city automatically displays. If using a default cash account, you can fill in the city if desired.
Date RequestedEnter the date on which the customer expects to have the service completed. This field defaults to today's date.
E-MailThe customer's email address.
Equip DescEnter the equipment to be serviced in the displayed field(s).
If you entered one or more field labels in options 9301-9303 "Custom Field Label for Service Order Equipment Prompts," those field labels display in place of a single "Equip Desc" field. You must fill in all fields that display. (field(s) in upper right—you may have up to three, with your own name labels instead of the "Equip Desc" label)
NameThe name of the customer for whom you are creating a Service Order.
Phone #The phone number of the customer for whom you are creating a Service Order.
Serial #, VIN #, or Tag NumberDepending on how you set up option 9242 "POS Custom Field Label for Service Order Identifier," you must enter either the Serial Number, VIN Number, or Tag Number for the item to be serviced or repaired.
ServiceEnter the service that is required on the item. If you set up Service Packages, you can select one of those instead, or you can do both.
Service PkgIf you set up Service Packages, you can select one from the drop-down list. You can also enter a service in the Service field if none of the service packages are appropriate, or if you need to enter additional service information about the item.
StateThe state in which the customer is located.
StatusSelect a status for this item. The default names or "labels" for the statuses are Quote, Checked in, Work in Progress, Waiting on Parts, or Complete.
If you changed any of the field names (labels) for these statuses in options 9310-9314, then your custom field name(s) display in place of the default names. Note: If you have set up additional statuses in options 9985-9989, they appear in the list of statuses to choose from. Note: If you have set up additional status's in options 9985-9989, they will appear in the list of statuses to choose from.
TechnicianSelect a technician from the drop-down list. Depending on how you set up option 9245 "Show which users in Service Order Technician drop-down," either All users, or only those marked as a technician, display in the Technician drop-down list.
Use CodeIf you set up option 9318, 9319, or 9320 ("POS Custom Field Label for Service Order Code" 1-3) to let technicians know information about the repair, these fields display in the lower right of the New Service Order dialog. Optionally, you may have used options 9321-9123 to establish up to three specific settings for each code you established. If you did not set up options 9318-9320, there is just one Codes field in the bottom right of the Service Order dialog.
Use the Codes field(s) to select the information you want to relay to the technician. (field(s) in lower right—you may have up to three, with your own name labels instead of the "Use Code" label)
ZipThe zip code of the state in which the customer is located.
