The Eagle system provides Pseudoephedrine Tracking because the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) enforces restrictions for over-the-counter (OTC) products containing ephedrine, pseudoephedrine, and phenylpropanolamine. These restrictions were created by the Combat Methamphetamine Epidemic Act of 2005, which specifies certain selling limitations of products containing these compounds to an individual, tracking of purchases, and federal reporting. Key points of Pseudoephedrine Tracking include:
Consumer ID is required when purchasing OTC products with these ingredients
Maximum 3.6 grams sold to an individual per 24 hour day
Maximum 9.0 grams sold to an individual per 30 day period
Maximum 7.5 grams sold to an individual per 30 day period on mail order products
The Eagle maintains an electronic log which does the following:
Keeps log records for a minimum of 2 years
Contains the purchaser’s signature
Includes the quantity of the product purchased
Includes the form of the product (UPC code is OK)
The Eagle stores purchaser information
Name
Address
Phone

Either the consumer or the clerk is allowed to enter information into the electronic log
The customer must be presented with notice or misrepresentation warning
Log information must be kept secure from unauthorized personnel
The merchant must provide log book information to local, state, and/or federal authorities upon request
Single package purchases items containing less than 60mg of these compounds do not need to be recorded
