When you scan or import documents into the Document Scanning application, they first go to a staging area called the Document Scanning Queue viewer. This viewer stores documents which have been imported or scanned, but have not been saved (archived) to the server yet. This means that until you archive a document, it is only visible on the PC where it originated. To alleviate this limitation, you can define the staging area as a network share, so that anyone with access to the share can view documents from other PCs. Here's how to set it up:
Click Misc to display the Document Scanning Options dialog.
Type the path to the network share you want to use for the document staging area (known as the Document Scanning Queue), then click OK.
When you begin using the Document Scanning application, it may be advantageous to specify a "batch name" for each scan job you create, so you can easily identify and manage your data in the shared Document Scanning Queue. You can also enter Codes to group your scanned documents. Batch names and Codes are discussed in greater detail in the topics Scan Documents and Import Documents.
