On a multistore system, you can use the Transfer application to transfer merchandise from one store to another. Transferring merchandise allows you to:
balance stock levels between stores
fill in temporary merchandise shortages
meet unexpected demand due to promotions
distribute inventory when one store location serves as a central receiving and distribution site or warehouse for other store locations
While there can be as many as three stores involved in a transfer:
Originating store – the store that creates the transfer request
From-store – the store that is providing the merchandise
To-store – the store that is getting the merchandise
Usually there are only two stores, with the originating store being the From-store or To-store.
The Transfer application includes the following features:
A complete audit trail is automatically created for every transfer document. The audit trail provides a record of who transferred what merchandise and where it went.
A choice between a multi-step process that reflects the actual steps involved in moving merchandise between stores, or an express single-step process.
(optional) Update the From-store sales history or purchase history, and gross profit figures.
(optional) Update the To-store average cost or replacement cost or both.
(optional) Update the To-store purchasing history.
(optional) Update accounts receivable.
Review transfer activity on EOD reports and the Open Orders/Pick Tickets report (ROO).
Track loaned merchandise, even to stores not on your system.
Adjust transfer transactions after the fact.
Transfer transactions remain in the system, including completed transactions, so that you can view and reprint them. Transfer documents are retained until you run the Open Order (ROO) report to purge them.
A SKU record must already exist in the transfer To-store (the receiving store) before you can transfer merchandise to it. You cannot use the Transfer application to load or add new SKUs to the receiving store.
When transferring merchandise, the following must be set up the same in the From-store and the To-store:
SKU number
Units of measure (selling, pricing, and stocking)
Default POS units for selling and pricing
Pricing decimal place
