Use the Notes tab in the Inventory Maintenance window to enter a message and associate it with an item. You choose the "where, when, and what" characteristics of the message. For example, you want the message to display in POS, at the time you post the item, and display the message in a window on the POS screen.
You can use notes to:
Remind the POS clerk to suggest other items to sell.
Print an information message about the item on the customer's invoice/receipt.
Record notes about an item for your reference.
From the Inventory Maintenance window, click the Notes tab. Note: Alternatively, you can press <Cntl>5.
Display the SKU to which you want to attach the note.
Type the name of the note in the Note Group box.
Select your options for Type, Display Repeats, and Print Repeats.

In the Message area, type the message.
Click Add. The system automatically enters the Note Group name in the Ext Desc Group field on the Codes tab.
If you want to associate this note with other items, display the item, click the Codes tab, type the Note Group name in the Ext Desc Group field, and click Change.
