Activating Fiserv Gift cards

You can activate Fiserv Gift cards (also known as ValueLink/FDMS) using the barcode of the card number. This change complies with new anti-fraud laws requiring gift cards to be in enclosed packaging. The barcode should contain only the embossed card number.

Activation Process in POS:

• Post the UPC with the amount.
• Pay for the card.
• Return to posting and activate the card.

The only difference is that POS now allows both a swipe or a barcode scan to obtain the card information.

New Options:

• E4W Option 2149 – Allow barcode activation of FDMS gift card: Set this to Y for barcode activation. This does not change the activation process in POS.
• E4W Option 2150 - Default value for FDMS gift card activation method: The default value is set to M for Magnetic Swipe. For Barcode scan, set this option to B.

Note: These options are visible only if option 5360 (Gift/Cash card type) is set to C=FDMS/ValueLink.
