(This feature is only supported on Eagle OS servers [Linux].)
Timed promotions are promotions where the promotion price is only given to a customer if the time the item is posted is within a specified "time of day window" entered in Modify Item Promotions (MIP).
Option 9381 “Allow use of timed promotions” must be set to Y in Options Configuration. See the Timed Promotions: Setup for other relevant options.
Note: The timed promotion price does NOT apply on orders you create during the timed promotion period and invoice later. The timed promotion price only applies to orders invoiced during the Timed Promotion.
Start Promotion: August 30 0700 (7AM) and End Promotion: August 31 0900 (9AM) means that the promotion price will only be given between 7AM and 9AM on August 30 and between 7AM and 9AM on August 31.
The above example does not mean that the promotion begins at 7AM on August 30th and ends at 9AM on August 31st.
To do a promotion where there is a specific promotion start time and end time, you must break this up into two separate promotions, as follows: (note: the example below assumes store close time is 9PM and your end-of-day Promotion Update Report (RUP) is queued to run after 9PM.)
Start Promotion: August 30 0700 7AM and End Promotion August 30 2100 (9PM).
Start Promotion August 31 0700 (7AM) and End Promotion August 31 0900 (9AM).
Overlapping promotions - If a timed promotion expires, a regular promotion (or another timed promotion) will not take effect the same day unless you delete the expired promotion and run the Promotion Update Report (RUP) with Option F.
Timed promotions are not supported for Loyalty or Customer-Specific Promotions.
Promotion History does not reflect the fact that the promotion had a start/end time.
Timed promotions are not supported in Offline POS. Instead, customers receive the active promotion price, even if the time of the transaction falls outside of the start/end times of the timed promotion.
You can import a timed promotion from a CSV file (requires option 1082 "Import Promotion into MIP from CSV File on System?" be set to Y).
You can use timed promotions in conjunction with Maximum Units promotions.
The system activates and de-activates timed promotions based solely on the start/end times. These times are checked by POS when the item is posted; therefore, even though Inventory Maintenance shows an active promotion price, it is only honored if the item is sold within the start/end times.
(Multistore users) Stores using the Time Zone option (refer to option 9264) will enter the start/end times for their promotion items in their local time.
