Copying Terminal-Based Security

Copying security saves time. You can copy security:

To copy security from one user to another, the security of the user you're copying from must exist in Store 1, Terminal 1.

Copying Security from One User to Another

Use the following procedure to copy a user's security to another user.

  1. Display the Security Maintenance window.

  2. Click Misc.

  3. Click Add/Delete User, then click Add a User.  The Add a User dialog box displays.

  4. In the User box, enter the user to which you want to copy.

  5. In the Store box, enter 1.

Multistore:  You can enter a specific store, or enter ALL if you want to copy to all stores.  If you enter a specific store, the new user will be added to all terminals that are currently locked into the store you specify.  If you enter ALL, the new user will be added to all terminals that are currently locked into any of your stores.

  1. In the Full Name box, enter the first and last name of the new user.

  2. (Optional) In the Password box, enter the password of the new user.

  3. In the Check Pswd at POS box, enter a Y if you want POS to require the user to enter his or her password when ringing up a transaction in POS.  Otherwise, leave the N.

  4. In the Cash Drawer # box, leave the default of 1 if you have only one cash drawer per POS station.  If you have more than one cash drawer per POS station, enter the correct cash drawer number for this user.

  5. In the Security Profile box, enter the user from which you're copying security.  Note that the user you enter must exist in Store 1, Terminal 1.

  6. Click OK.

Copying Security from One Terminal to Another

  1. Display the Security Maintenance window.

  2. In the Terminal box, enter the terminal to which you want to copy.

  3. In the Store box, enter 1.

    Multistore: In the Store box, enter the store to which you want to copy (enter ALL if you want to copy to all stores).

  4. In the User box, enter the user to which you want to copy or select one from the drop-down list.

    Note: the drop-down list only displays users that have already been set up in Modify User Record.

  5. Click Misc.

  6. Click Add a User's Capability. A dialog box displays.

  7. In the User box, enter the same user you entered in step 4.

  8. Click OK.

  9. Click Change.

Copying Security from One Store to Another

  1. Display the Security Maintenance window.

  2. In the Terminal box, enter the terminal to which you want to copy.

  3.  In the Store box, enter the store to which you want to copy (enter ALL if you want to copy to all stores).

  4. In the User box, enter the user to which you want to copy or select one from the drop-down list.

    Note: the drop-down list only displays users that have already been set up in Modify User Record.

  5. Click Misc.

  6. Click Add a User's Capability. A dialog box displays.

  7. In the User box, enter the same user you entered in step 4.

  8. Click OK.

  9. Click Change.
