Depending upon what software options you have purchased, your Epicor Eagle™ can automatically pass off the following types of transactions to General Ledger:
Accounts Receivable and Sales (if you purchased Accounts Receivable Pro)
Payroll (if you purchased Payroll software)
Accounts Payable (if you purchased Accounts Payable software)
The system creates transactions in the General Journal Transactions window, where you can then change, print, and post the transactions, just like you do with transactions you manually enter in the General Journal Transactions window.
The benefits to using automatic passoff are:
Time savings. The system creates General Ledger entries and adds them to the General Journal Transactions window for you.
Reduced data entry errors. Because the system adds the general ledger entries for you, there are fewer errors, such as transposing numbers, entering the wrong date, and so on.
To set up automatic passoff of Accounts Receivable (A/R) and sales transactions, see your General Ledger Workbook, the tabbed section A/R & Sales Passoff to G/L. You should also consult your Epicor Customer Education Representative if you have any questions about setting up automatic passoff.
To pass off Payroll and Accounts Payable transactions, there is no extra setup required beyond the normal setup of these applications. The distribution reports (Report RPGL and RAGL, respectively) list all the transactions that should be posted to General Ledger. By merely running Function GLP (General Ledger Passoff), the system automatically moves the transactions from these distribution reports to the General Ledger application.
