Progressive Promotions: Creating Markdown Schedules

This procedure assumes:

• Option 1020 "Progressive Promotions (Markdown Schedule) on System" has been set to Yes by an Epicor representative.
• The Promotion Update Report (RUP) with option F running in nightly queue when using Progressive Promotions.

1. Display the Modify Item Promotions window.
2. Click Misc, and select Maintain Progressive Markdown Schedules.

3. Click Maintain Markdown Schedule.

4. In the Maintain Schedules dialog, click Add.

5. In the Add Markdown Schedule dialog that displays, make a selection in each field.

• Schedule ID – enter up to 10 characters to identify the markdown schedule
• # Tiers – the number of tiers this markdown schedule will have, limited to maximum of 10 tiers
• Method – the pricing method for this schedule
• Retail? – determines the retail that will be used when RUP Option F calculates/re-calculates the progressive promo prices. "Current" means to use the retail price that exists at the time RUP(F) runs. "Starting" means to use the retail that existed on the Start Date of the promotion record in Modify Item Promotions (MIP).

6. In the Create Markdown Schedule dialog that displays, fill in the fields. The fields in the dialog correspond to the Method and the number of tiers you chose in the previous step. In this example, Percent Off with three tiers was selected. Click here to learn more about this example.

   In this example, the schedule can be described as follows, and its ranges begin on the promotion’s Start Date:

   • Day 1 thru Day 7 the item’s promotion price will be 10% of the current retail (item’s retail price at the time RUP(F) is running).
   • Day 8 thru Day 17 the item’s promotion price will be 20% off the current retail.
   • Day 18 thru Day 31 the item’s promotion price will be 50% off the current retail. 

• # of Days – the number of days that each tier is in effect.

• Percent (or Dollar Off, or Price) - the value used to calculate that tier’s promotion price (or if you selected Price as your Method, then you'll enter the specific promo price for that tier)

• In the last/final tier, enter a specific number of days for that final tier, or leave it blank to use the End Date of the promotion(s) to which this schedule is assigned.

7. When you are finished filling in the fields, click OK. Your schedule now displays in the Maintain Schedules dialog, as will subsequent schedules you create. The Description column displays a recap of the tiers you created for the schedule.

8. To utilize the Markdown Schedule you just created, you must assign it to a promotion.
9. If you want to generate a bin label file to import into Label Manager when RUP (F) changes the prices of items on a progressive promotion down to the next price tier per its markdown schedule, set option 1423 “Generate label file from RUP for Progressive Promotions?” to Yes.    The name of the bin label file created by RUP (F) for progressive promotions prints at the bottom of the RUP report. For example, if a label file is generated by the RUP (F) on July 19, 2013, the following prints: PROGRESSIVE PROMO LABEL FILE: BL071901.001
   For multi-store users, all stores' progressive promotion items are included in one bin label file.
