Service and Repair: Set Up Service Package SKUs

(Service and Repair users only)

(Optional) Use the following procedure to set up service package SKUs for Service Orders so that when you are creating a Service Order in POS, a drop-down list of these standard services displays. When setting up these SKUs, you must indicate in the Department field the department number you entered in option 9308 POS Service Order - Standard Services DepartmentIn this option, enter the Department that contains the SKUs you set up for standard services. This department should be reserved for this purpose only.
Most likely the SKUs will be Bill of Material (BOM) SKUs, but they don't have to be. When creating a new Service Order, the clerk can select one of these services from the drop-down list in the Service field. Or, if the repair is not one of your standard services, the clerk can type in that service in the Service Note section. Or, the clerk can choose to enter service needs in both sections if desired..

1. In Department Maintenance, set up a department exclusively for Service Orders.

2. In Options Configuration, Make sure you have indicated this department for service package SKUs in option 9308 "POS Service Order - Standard Services Department."

3. In Inventory Maintenance, set up an SKU for each standard service package you offer, such as SHARPEN BLADES, LOCK SERVICE, CHANGE LAWNMOWER OIL, etc.
