Use the following procedure to display detail about an item before you post it (add it to a transaction) in POS. The detail that displays includes quantity on hand, quantity on order, multiple location codes, recent promotion prices, policy A flag (catalog users only), the word Discontinued or Store Closeout in red if the item is discontinued or closeout, etc.
POS can be configured to automatically display item information before posting the item, or to automatically post items, without pausing to display item information. In either case, item information can always be displayed by using Display (KPad/) with an item entered in the POS posting Item field. The item information can have as many as three windows, with Display (KPad/) used to scroll through the multiple windows. The first window can be an optional simplified display or a full display of item information, and optionally followed by a window showing other store location inventory information.
Set up options 460 “'Display' After Barcode Scan? ” and 8286 “Format of the item information's 'simplified' display? ” to determine how item information displays.
Display the POS window.
In the Item (SKU) box, type the SKU and click Display. Detailed information about the item displays in a dialog box.
If you set up POS to show full inventory display, then all the available detail about the item displays. If you set up POS to show simplified inventory display, then a limited amount of available detail about the item displays; to see the remaining detail, click Display again.
If you use the Alternate Items feature, and if the item being displayed has alternates, an "Alternates" hyperlink displays below the "Item (SKU)" field in the posting area. Clicking on it displays the list of alternates available for that item.
