The following explains miscellaneous changes to Epicor Eagle™ for Windows on level 25.1097.50 (Eagle for Windows level 12.1159.80). For additional information about a particular enhancement listed below, click on the blue underlined text associated with it. To return to this page, click the Back button.
This release of Eagle for Windows includes "Job Aids," a new type of documentation to help you in your day-to-day work. Job Aids are very short documents that you can use as a reference tool when performing specific tasks. With their simple step-by-step format, illustrations, and examples, Job Aids simplify your activities on the system, without requiring you to commit information and details to memory. You can access Job Aids from the Training Browser, from Online Help, and on our website at www.activant.com. Just print out a Job Aid, and then use it every time you need to execute a particular procedure. You'll get your work done quicker and easier when you have a Job Aid to guide you through it.
There is a new book in Eagle for Windows online help called "Vendor-Specific Procedures." This book contains all the documentation that is specific to vendors such as Ace, Do it Best Corp, True Value, and more. Formerly, there was a separate book for each vendor listed in the main list on the Contents tab of online help. Now, simply click on the Vendor-Specific Procedures book from the Contents tab, and within that book you’ll find a book for each vendor.
The following enhancements apply to all Eagle for Windows grids:
Export Grid Data to a CSV or HTML file
You can now export grid data to an HTML or CSV file format. Simply right-click in any column and select Control Panel. You will see the new choices for "Export to CSV file" and "Export to HTML file." If you choose Export to HTML, you will have 4 color choices – blue, green, tan, or white.
Copy/Paste Grid Data
You can now right-click and then select "Copy" in any cell in a grid to copy the contents to the clipboard for copy/pasting.
New Checkbox Selections
The Check Box menu now supports more checkbox selection options. To access these options, you must first display the checkbox column by right-clicking in any column heading and selecting "Check Boxes."
Select Rows X through Y— Selects (adds checkmarks to) a range of rows. Click the checkbox (or use the down-arrow and spacebar to place a checkmark) of the first item of the desired range. Then right-click on the checkbox of the last item of the desired range, and select this option. All items in the selected range now have a checkmark.
Unselect Rows X through Y— Un-selects (removes checkmarks from) a range of rows. Remove the checkmark from the last item of the range you want to unselect. Then right-click on the first item of the range you want to un-select, and select this option. All items in the range no longer have a checkmark.
Select All Visible Rows— Checkmarks only the rows that are visible in the grid.
Invert Selection— Removes the checkmark from all currently checked rows, and places a checkmark in all currently unchecked rows.
The following information is now passed to the Total Rental application from the Epicor Eagle™ system:
Charge Allowed & Running Balance – Allows you to know up front whether a customer is going to be able to charge, and how much they currently owe.
Taxable flag (from Inventory) and Tax Code – Allows you to more accurately calculate tax on the rental contract.
Store Account Opened, Cross-Store Charges Allowed, and Lockin Store - Allows you to know up front if a customer from another store is allowed to charge at your store.
You can now access the standard Tools menu from the Eagle Browser, which means you no longer have to go into an application to customize colors, sounds, etc.
To save time and improve accuracy, you can now use shortcuts to enter dates into date fields. Simply set the new option "Enable shortcut keys (t,n,p,b,e) in date fields" to Yes in Options Configuration. Then, whenever your cursor is in a date field, the following shortcuts will be available:
T = today’s date
N = next date (date +1)
P = previous date (date -1)
B = beginning of the month
E = end of the month
These shortcuts can be pressed repeatedly to get the desired date. For example, pressing NNN will increment the date by three days. Note that while these shortcuts are convenient and time-saving, in certain applications such as POS, where the clerk often isn’t watching the screen, they introduce an opportunity for making errors. Therefore, keep in mind that you can set up the "Enable shortcut keys" option by terminal, so you could set the option to No for your POS terminals, and set the option to Yes for your back-office terminals.
