Centralized Distribution: Shipping and Receiving Transfers

Once you have received the multistore PO at the distribution center (DC), you are ready to ship the merchandise to the remote stores.

Shipping Transfers from the DC

  1. Load the merchandise on the truck for delivery to the remote strore(s).

  2. From POS, recall the transfer and change the status from R (request) to S (shipped). This will put the merchandise in transit, relieving the quantity on hand from the DC.

The Transfer application does allow you to go straight from status R (request) to status C (request), and therefore bypassing status S (shipped). Click here for more information.

Receiving the Transfer at the Remote Store

  1. At the remote store(s), recall the transfer and set the status to C to complete. This will update the remote store’s quantity on hand for the received merchandise.

  2. If there were any discrepancies between the actual merchandise that arrived at the To-store and the transfer document, you must create a transfer adjustment.

Purging Completed Transfers

Completed Transfers and Transfer Adjustments are retained until you run the Open Orders/Pick Tickets (ROO) report to purge them. Do not leave the transfer documents in the system indefinitely. For cancelled or deleted transfers, the Committed Quantity and Quantity on Order fields are not reset until the ROO report runs.
