Loading Bill of Materials (BOM) Overview

A Bill of Materials (BOM) is a group of items linked together for selling purposes. You create a BOM "header" SKU, which you will use at POS. To the BOM SKU, you link other SKUs, referred to as "components." Components can be regular inventory SKUs, but they can also be other BOMs.  

When you sell a BOM header at POS, the components are automatically sold along with it, much like what happens when you sell a kit. However, unlike kits, with BOMs you can manipulate the components at POS by changing their price and/or quantity. You can even add or delete items from the BOM at POS.

In the case of a BOM whose 'Sell At' is Markup from Cost or Discount off List, the pricing of a component which is itself a BOM will be per its 'Sell at' price.
