Product Analysis Report (RPA)

About the Product Analysis Report (RPA)

The Product Analysis Report (RPA) ranks inventory items based upon their sales history.  By comparing the popularity and inventory value of each item, you can determine whether or not your inventory investment is distributed properly.

Report RPA optionally updates both the popularity and user codes in Inventory Maintenance.  On most Inventory reports, you can use these codes to include or exclude items.

Note:  Any items that have an N in either the Keep Prices field or the Keep Stock Info field in Inventory Maintenance (Codes tab) never print on the RPA.

For more information about how the system calculates product ranking using the breakpoints and A, B, C ranking codes, click here to go to the RPA ranking help topic.

Options Setup for RPA

Review the following options in Options Configuration that affect the Product Analysis Report (RPA).

Option 8461 "Number of breakpoints allowed in the Product Analysis Report (RPA)"

Option 8389 "Popularity Code schema"

(Optional) Double Ranking Code Setup for RPA

If you want to double-rank your items (i.e. by gross profit dollars AND by units sold), you can set up Double Ranking Codes which allow you to define how you want to update the Popularity Code when running RPA with option R, the Double Ranking option. Note that Option 8389 ’Popularity Code Schema’ must be set to 1 (A-H) to set up Double Ranking Codes. Click here to go to the setup topic for Double Ranking Codes.
