Editing Existing User Profiles

You use the LaserCat 3 User Setup utility to manage user profiles for personnel who use LaserCat 3.  You cannot create users with User Setup.  You can only modify already existing LaserCat 3 user profiles.  Specifically, you can:

• Set options for the default user profile.

• Change options for existing users.

TIP: When a user runs LaserCat 3 for the first time, LaserCat 3 looks for a user profile that matches the currently logged in user.  If it does not find such a user profile, it automatically creates a new user profile using the default options for new users.  Therefore, by setting the default options for new users, you establish a basic user profile template as a starting point for all your users.  See Creating Users for more information.

Follow these steps to edit an existing user profile, or the default profile for new users:

1. Start   User Setup.  

   Double-click the LaserCat 3 User Setup Icon on the desktop.

   If you do not have the icon on your desktop, contact your System Administrator.

2. Select which user profile to edit:

1. • Set default options for new users.

     Click Set Defaults for New Users. Click Continue.

      

   • Change default options for all users.

     Click Change Default for All Users. Click Continue.

      

      

      

   • Set options for a specific user.

     Click Set Options for User. Click the drop-down box arrow. Click the user profile you want to edit.  For example, fred.smith. Click Continue.

     The Set Options for USERNAME screen opens.

      

3. Select the tab that contains the options you want to edit:

1. • General tab.

   • PartExpert & InterChange tab.

   • LaborExpert & ServicePlus tab.

   • TireExpert tab.

4. Set or clear the option as you want.

This is example is a checkbox in the General tab.

3. Make any other edits to the user profile.

4. Click OK.

5. Click Exit.

6. Restart the LaserCat 3 application.
