Epicor-Supplied Security Templates

Your Epicor Eagleā„¢ system has security templates that you can use when setting up Role-Based or Terminal-Based Security. These templates are groups of security bits that correspond to particular job functions. For example, the POSCLERK template contains all the bits that a typical cashier would need. Thus, you can save time by using security templates because you don't have to determine which security bits to assign to a clerk--you can simply assign a template to them, and they are ready to begin using the system.

For information about using templates in Role-Based security, click here.

For information about using templates in Terminal-Based security, click here for the procedure for applying a template to an individual user, or click here for the procedure for applying a template to a group of users.

Terminal-Based Security users: If you do not see the Epicor-supplied templates in the drop-down list when you attempt to use one, you must first add a user using the template name. For example, if you want to use the "POSCLERK" template but it does not display in the drop-down list, add a user called POSCLERK. Once you have done this, the template will display in the drop-down list and you can then assign the template to the appropriate users.

Types of Security Templates Available

The following are descriptions of the templates that come with your Epicor system.

POSCLERK - This template can be used for most common cashier transactions, including sales, credits and special orders.  It provides POS security but does not include security to allow clerks to bypass system POS options that may require manager overrides.

POSLEAD - This template is designed for users performing the role of "head cashier" (or possibly other experienced and trusted POS clerks on your staff). Many advanced POS security bits are enabled in this template; therefore, Epicor does not recommend this template for new or inexperienced cashiers.

APMGR - This template is designed for the person(s) responsible for handling all Accounts Payable operations.

GLMGR - This template is designed for the person(s) responsible for handling all General Ledger operations.

INVRECMGR - This template is designed for the person(s) responsible for managing inventory receiving operations.

ARMGR - This template is designed for the person(s) responsible for all aspects of Accounts Receivable:  including processing payments, managing and adjusting accounts, looking up account information, etc.

PAYMGR - This template is designed for the person(s) responsible for handling all payroll operations.

LIMITED - This template provides a very limited level of security which is slightly above the most basic security, but not at an executive level.

SYSTEM - This template provides executive level security, including all main functions of the system including the ability to add/change/delete security records.

GENERAL - This template provides all system functionality except the utilities such as OSPREY, CDT (change date/time), and SHOWTASK.

MGR - This template is designed for the person(s) responsible for day-to-day managerial activities. This template includes the ability to perform A/R lookups, manager overrides, view costs, etc. It is similar to the "SYSTEM" template except that it excludes access to highly sensitive information such as A/P, G/L, and Payroll.

You can also set up your own templates. Simply create a user in Store 1, and assign specific capabilities to that user in Store 1, Terminal 1. Then you can use your template by copying it to specific employees.
