The following are enhancements to the original, non-windows Eagle system (also known as "legacy") on level 23.4148. For additional information about a particular enhancement listed below, click on the blue underlined text associated with it. To return to this page, click the Back button.
The summer 2002 update for the Do it Best Corp. catalog will be a national catalog that will include products across all ten retail service centers. It will also include multiple package prices— case, inter-case, and each— as well as support for both Vision and Classic costing structures. Once you have installed the new national catalog, you will begin receiving your catalog updates directly from Do it-Best via your async modem; thus, you'll discontinue updating the catalog via CATEFM.
Complete the following procedures when you receive the new national catalog:
If you are using bisync communications with Do it Best, you must convert to async communications before you can update the new catalog. You can obtain the conversion document from Epicor's web site at www.activant.com, or from the Eagle Advice Line at (800) 322-3077. If you're not sure whether you are using bisync or async communications, in Function MTC, display the control stream HWIEFM. If it begins with the command OBD, you are using bisync communications. If it begins with OAD, you are already using async communications.
Enter your Do it Best member number and password in the new HWIEFMTC control stream.
Set up DIBUTL, the Do it Best Member Communications Setup Utility.
After you install the latest software on your system, follow the enclosed installation procedures to load the new Do it Best national catalog.
After the catalog is loaded and the system returns to normal mode, you must run an EFM transmission to receive updates to bring the catalog up-to-date. Although the actual transmission is brief, it could take several hours for the system to process the updates.
Discontinue updating the catalog via CATEFM. If CATEFM is in one of your queues, make sure to remove it. Then add the new EFM process to a weekly queue.
Do it Best catalog users: Once you have installed the new national Eagle Do it Best catalog, you can electronically receive the quantity-on-hand for items in your retail service center (RSC). The quantity-on-hand will display in the Item Detail Screen of the Electronic Catalog and in Function MPO and Function IMU. This feature can assist you in making buying decisions because you'll know how many of a particular item are on-hand at Do it Best before you order the item. You can receive RSC balances on a daily basis.
You must complete the following procedures to receive RSC Inventory Balances:

The summer 2002 update for the Eagle Ace catalog will be a national catalog, including products across all distribution centers. Once you've installed the new catalog, you will begin receiving your catalog updates directly from Ace during your weekly EFM transmission. Thus, you'll discontinue updating the catalog via CATEFM.
You must complete the following procedures to set up the new catalog:
Load the new Ace national catalog
If you want all items in the new catalog to be updated when EFM runs, you must receive "all-item hotsheets." If you receive hotsheets based on your purchase history, only the items you've purchased will be updated in the catalog. If you want to switch to all-item hotsheets, notify Ace at 800-777-6797. However, keep in mind that switching to all-item hotsheets can affect the EFM information you download each week. For example, if you add new items during EFM, all new items will be downloaded, rather than just the items that are new to your mix. This may require more editing before you merge the EFM data with your inventory file.
Preferably when your store is closed, so other processes are not affected, run EFM to update the catalog (EFM does not run automatically after installing the new national catalog).
Discontinue updating the catalog via CATEFM. If CATEFM is in one of your queues, make sure to remove it. The new catalog will be updated when you run your weekly EFM transmission.
