N Series Compatibility Settings Overview
Compatibility settings allow you to customize Eagle N Series to make
it more like Eagle for Windows, in order to ease the transition to Eagle
N Series. The list below summarizes the various ways you can customize
Eagle N Series:
- Run
Eagle for Windows Applications instead of Eagle N Series. On Release
24, the Eagle for Windows applications still exist and can be run
if desired. There are settings available for each application (POS,
Inventory Maintenance, etc.), to determine whether you want to run
Eagle N Series or Eagle for Windows.
- Enable
Compass features. You can use Compass-based features in Inventory
Maintenance (IMU), Vendor Maintenance (MVR), and Customer Maintenance
(MCR) (Analytics tabs, New Item, etc.)
- Display
keyboard shortcuts on Misc and Go To menus. You can display shortcut
keys in Eagle N Series, to mimic Eagle for Windows. Otherwise, or
you must press the Ctrl key to use shortcut keys.
- Display
numbers on tabs. You can display numbers on tabs, as in Eagle
for Windows. This can be helpful if you are accustomed to pressing
Ctrl+1, Ctrl+2, Ctrl+3, etc. to display the various tabs in an application
(as in Inventory Maintenance, Customer Maintenance, etc.).
- Eagle for
Windows Themes. The theme choice for a station can be selected
in the Misc Menu of Compatibility Settings. You can select White,
Light Grey, or Dark Gray. You can set up both a system default theme,
and also a theme by terminal.
- Display
Eagle for Windows toolbars instead of the Eagle N Series ribbon.
You can display toolbars, as in Eagle for Windows, rather than the
Eagle N Series ribbon. (In Eagle N Series, Point-of-Sale defaults
to a toolbar; all others default to a ribbon). The main difference
is that ribbons show function keys (F3, F4, etc.) in tooltips only,
whereas toolbars always show on-screen shortcuts and function keys.
Note: Some Eagle N Series functions are not available on the toolbar.

If desired,
you can view compatibility settings by store and terminal in View
Terminals (VTE).
